We hope the information on this
site will help you make a successful and informed choice
in mental health providers.
Since 1982 we
have produced an annual printed Directory with
information about member therapists and their practices.
The Directory is free and can be found at various locations
throughout the Portland area (see our "Distribution"
page). Starting in 2004, the WTPNW Directory can also
be accessed here on our website. Prospective clients
can look up therapists by specialty area
or by name, narrowing it down
to a specific geographical area if desired. Or one can
just browse through the listings to get a feel for the
kind of services that providers offer and how they talk
about themselves.
The therapists listed
in this Directory are independent practitioners. However,
as members of the Women's Therapy Project Northwest
they implicitly agree to offer women and men psychotherapy
which:
Respects you as a co-worker
in therapy;
Enables you to make
the choices that are right for you, with a therapist
who:
Is professional
(as defined by her/his professional group)
Is knowledgeable
about feminist theory and psychotherapy.
PLEASE NOTE
THAT WTPNW DOES NOT ENDORSE OR RECOMMEND ANY OF THE
PROVIDERS LISTED IN THIS DIRECTORY, as we have
no way of evaluating their professional competency or
qualifications. All information in listings is self-reported.
We encourage users of this Directory to ask questions
of prospective providers (see "Interviewing
Therapists"), and to verify their credentials
through the appropriate licensing boards (see "Deciphering
Credentials").
